When “good enough” isn’t good enough.

A Family Business Built on Hard Work and Honest Service

For more than 30 years, Bill Edens has dedicated his career to repairing and maintaining the commercial kitchen equipment businesses depend on every day. Today, alongside his son Will, AW Mechanical proudly serves restaurants, country clubs, churches, food trucks, bars, schools, and commercial kitchens throughout Central Kentucky with the same commitment to honesty, integrity, and quality workmanship that the company was built on.

It All Started in the Navy

Bill Edens' career began in 1984 while serving in the United States Navy, where he trained in electromechanical maintenance and attended Nuclear Power School. The discipline, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills he developed there became the foundation of a career dedicated to keeping complex equipment running reliably.

After completing his military service, Bill continued working in industrial maintenance before discovering his passion for commercial kitchen equipment while working for Turf Catering at Keeneland Race Course in 2004. There, he developed the specialized knowledge that would eventually become the heart of AW Mechanical.

Starting AW

Building Something of His Own

In 2014, Bill and his wife Karen decided it was time to build something of their own. Together they founded AW Mechanical with one simple goal: provide honest, dependable commercial kitchen equipment service without the sales pressure often found in larger companies.

From the very beginning, customers knew they could count on straightforward recommendations, fair pricing, and repairs done the right way.

Passing Knowledge to the Next Generation

That same year, Bill's youngest son, Will, joined AW Mechanical as an apprentice.

Working side by side every day gave Will the opportunity to learn directly from decades of hands-on experience repairing commercial refrigeration and kitchen equipment. Today, Will serves as Operations Manager and Lead Technician, continuing the same commitment to quality workmanship and honest service that his father established from the very beginning.

The tradition continues with Bill's grandson, Bricen, who has already begun training alongside both Bill and Will while he's on breaks from high school. After graduation, Bricen plans to pursue specialized technical training to further his education and continue building the knowledge and skills that will benefit the family business for years to come.

When you call AW Mechanical, you're not getting a revolving door of technicians. You're getting a team that's committed to preserving the values, craftsmanship, and relationships that have been passed down from one generation to the next.
